Ty's Take

Five neighbors gone this week—Caldwell, Hourigan, Jackson, Lawrence, Creek—names that meant something to somebody here, and that's what the death notices are for, to say their time mattered in a place where people still read them with their coffee. The housing market's steady, internships are putting Aggies to work, life moves on the way it always does in towns like ours. But you notice the ages: 70, 84, 78. You notice because you knew some of these folks, or knew folks who knew them, and that's how community works when you're not big enough to be strangers to each other.
