Not much happening in our corner of the world today, but that Camden County accident reminds us how quickly things can turn serious on our winding lake roads. With tourist season ramping up and more folks unfamiliar with our curves and hills making their way around the area, it's worth remembering that getting somewhere five minutes faster isn't worth a trip to the hospital. I've covered too many preventable accidents over the years in rural communities where the nearest trauma center is a long helicopter ride away, and every one of them started with someone thinking they knew the road better than they did.

One Seriously Hurt in Camden County Accident

A serious single-vehicle crash occurred on Route A at Midway Road in Camden County just after midnight Saturday morning. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that one person was hospitalized with serious injuries from the accident.
