Ty's Take
There's something worth watching in how this valley moves when somebody asks hard questions about where food actually comes from. The Pioneer's piece on local markets and food security isn't abstract—it's about whether a rancher's wife can buy decent vegetables in December without driving to Livingston, whether a family on fixed income can afford to eat well, whether we're just accepting "that's how it is" when we don't have to. Sweet Grass County built itself on knowing how to work the land, but somewhere along the way we got comfortable depending on trucks rolling through from somewhere else. Worth thinking about whether we've got the people and the will to change that, because nobody's coming to do it for us.
