Ty's Take

The Stillhouse Junkies coming back to Society Hall is the kind of thing that reminds you why people stick around the valley—live music in a room where everybody knows everybody, the kind of night that costs nothing but means everything. But what caught my eye this week was the mental health push for kids, paired right alongside a piece about how sick children get when they do get sick in a place like this. It's the two sides of the same coin out here: we've got community and we've got isolation, and both matter when you're raising kids in high country. The state's finally waking up to what parents in Conejos County already know—that a young person's mind needs tending just like their body does, and sometimes the closest help is still a long drive away.
