Ty's Take
There's a particular kind of restlessness that settles over a military town when the seasons shift and leadership changes hands—you can feel it in the administrative offices and the gyms and the coffee shops where people watch who's coming in and who's moving on. Ashley Rahn taking over the girls basketball program is one of those moves that matters more than a headline suggests, because in a town built on transitions and transfers, continuity in coaching can anchor a generation of kids who might otherwise be looking over their shoulder toward the next posting. The transfer rule dust-up and the new voices at the paper itself signal the kind of turnover that's constant here, but Rahn's hire feels like someone's betting on staying put, on building something that lasts longer than a four-year assignment. That's the kind of bet the Basin needs right now.
