Ty's Take
We're in that stretch of an election year where every candidate with a shot at the Governor's Office comes through town telling us what New Mexico needs, and half the time they're not wrong—we do need better water management, we do need jobs that don't depend on federal decisions made in Washington. But here in Otero County, where Holloman and White Sands keep the lights on and the ranchers are still fighting over every drop in the Tularosa Basin, what matters is which candidate actually understands that you can't run a state on vision alone. Permitting paralysis is real; water rights disputes are real; the tension between what we want to be and what we actually are is as real as the desert heat. Listen close to who's talking about the work, not just the dream.
